The history of the family business begins in the early 1960s when Polimeros Koukoutzelis, started the business in Sochos by trading nuts, he collected depending on the season, with stores in Thessaloniki.

In 1981, his son Serafim Koukoutzelis took over the business and concentrates on the collection, sorting and trading of raw sunflower and pumpkin seeds he buys from producers of Evros, occupying a large market share in Northern Greece.

In 1987, the company extended the list of products they were trading by adding almonds. They also started the processing almonds on their own by sorting and crashing them.
In 2003, Seraphim Koukoutzelis, having carried the passion and the necessary know-how, passed the business in the hands of his two sons, Pantelis and Konstantinos Koukoutzelis, under a new company name ‘KOUKOUTZELI BROS OE’.
Having now the knowledge that is required, the company takes its first steps in the roasting of sunflower and pumpkin seeds, while adding more species on the product list, according always to markets needs.

2007 is a milestone year for the company as it relocates to new proprietary and state-of-the-art facilities of 700 square meters, located at the 1st km of Lagadas – Kolchikos, 10 km outside of Thessaloniki. With new cooling chambers and new equipment for sorting and roasting seeds and all kind of nuts, the company evolves into a modern trading and processing unit for nuts and dried fruits.

In 2016 the facilities expanded with another 600 sq. meters of storage and new refrigeration cabinets to meet the increased markets demands.
